Ecliptica – “Ecliptifide” (2016)

Label: Mars Music

Review by Tony Cannella

The Austrian metal ‘n’ roll band Ecliptica returns with their 3rd full-length album “Ecliptified”. Their last album “Journey Saturnine” was released in 2012 and in the meantime, Ecliptica re-issued their debut full-length, “Impetus” with a few bonus tracks, but “Ecliptified” is their first album of new material in almost four years.

First and foremost, I have to say that “Ecliptifide” is a fun record. There is just so much energy and enthusiasm going on here and it takes the listener for an enjoyable ride for about 56-minutes. The duel male/female vocals of Tom and Sunny are pretty well done. No growly vocals mixed with operatic here. Both styles are in the hard rock/clean metal flair, which in and of itself is kind of different. “Welcome to the Show” is the opener and gets the ball rolling. You can check out the video on YouTube or their official web site. It’s worth a look. The band steamrolls the songs like “Hate the Pain”, “Round ‘n’ Round” and “We Rock” (which they do), and yet there is still plenty of room for a ballad like “For Good”. “Ecliptified” sure is a raucous powerhouse of an album and one worthy of the tag “metal ‘n’ roll”. Ecliptica is the real deal.

Rating – 80/100
