Probably, one of my favorite bands over the last few years is the Dutch outfit, Nemesea. To me, their best album was the 2011 recording, “The Quiet Resistance”. It is hard to believe that that was five years ago, but now the Alternative Metal band finally returns with their fourth album, “Uprise”. “Uprise” gets off to an intense start with “Hear Me”. This just an up-tempo opener and one that is sure to get the blood pumping. The sort of pop-ish break in the middle of the song is a bit different but it totally fits. Nemesea continues to be unrestrained by labels or style and “Uprise” is quite adept at including elements of metal, hard rock, alternative and even some pop influences. “Twilight” is another cool song: this has a mid-tempo, highly accessible approach. “Forever” is a darker almost heavy pop song with an instantly catchy melody. Other highlights include, “Let it Burn”, “Time to Make It”, “Bones” and “Hold On”. There is no doubt that Nemesea has evolved over the years from their debut album “Mana” way back in 2004 all the way through “Uprise”. They have laid a solid foundation that only gets stronger.
