From guest collaborations to new beginnings with a fresh label and bassist, Procession marks a significant chapter for the Belgian collective. Dive into the full conversation below.

Welcome to Wolvennest
Hi Shazzula, welcome to Femme Metal Webzine! How are you doing, and how has life been treating you these days?
Hello! Quite okay, I guess. Autumn is slowly showing its face, and interesting colors are appearing in nature.
Wolvennest’s new album Procession is scheduled for release via Consouling Sounds on October 17th, 2025. What can you tell us about the overall production process of the record?
I may be wrong, but I believe Corvus started recording some demos shortly after the tour we did for Dark Path to the Light. As usual, we recorded everything except the drums in our home studio. There was no stress involved, the whole process was super easy, as if we were recording our first album with no pressure.
The new album “Procession”
With The Dark Path to the Light, you chose an A-side/B-side journey, but this time Wolvennest has opted for a longer format. What led you to make this choice?
I’m quite sure Dark Path to the Light will remain an exception, as we usually make double albums. It offers more space for weird outros and experimentation, which for me is easier, I have more opportunities to play theremin and try out some stuff with pedal effects, etc.
As per Wolvennest’s tradition, each new LP features a guest vocalist. How did the collaboration with Adaestuo’s Hekte Zaren on the song “Tarantism” come about?
I met Hekte Zaren years ago, and we got along quite well. The core members of the band all admire her artistic vision and uncompromising devotion to Black Metal. She had total freedom to do whatever she wanted on the song, that’s the best way to get the very best out of someone. She’s also very familiar with ambient music, so it made total sense to have her on the album.
The connotation behind Procession
The new album is titled Procession. Usually, the word carries a direct religious connotation. However, in this context, what does it refer to?
Can you smell religion trying to make a shameless comeback in the Western world? I guess Procession is our response to that. Wolvennest plays occult music, so I’m sure you’ll understand the meaning of the word once it’s connected to dark music. For the first time, the lyrics will be included in the album booklet, so listeners will be able to make their own interpretation of the title.
Wolvennest introduces the bassist
Procession marks the first recording with new bassist Vaath. How did he approach his new role within the band?
He fits in perfectly with the band, mainly because he has followed our evolution (or stagnation) since the very beginning. A few weeks before we started looking for a new bassist, we had a friendly chat with him at Desertfest in Antwerp, so he was the first guy in our radar. He’s skilled, full of energy, and from the inside it feels like he’s been in the band for a long time. That’s how good and smart he is, a real team player with a strong personality.

The start of a new collaboration with Consouling Sounds
Procession also marks the beginning of your collaboration with Consouling Sounds after years of working with Van Records. What does this new partnership mean for Wolvennest?
Time will tell! But we feel this release is important for Consouling, and that’s what matters. We’re not just a random release lost among dozens of others. It’s a “small” label, but run by serious people who know what they’re doing, experienced and devoted. We don’t need anything more.
And it’s surely better than being part of a massive label that wouldn’t give a single shit about the music. We’re part of the underground, and we love it, it offers us total freedom regarding the music, the visuals, and the timeline. We’re not a band desperately searching for exposure. Freedom is the key, always.
Wolvennest and their upcoming new tour
Alongside the album release, a full European tour has been announced. What are you most looking forward to on this tour?
We rehearsed the new album, and all the songs sounded powerful, which isn’t always the case! Usually, we make a selection after the album’s release, but this time we could play the whole record and feel good about it. Mainly, I’m happy to travel and see friends on the road. I’m also very good friends with Sabrina from Double Darkness, Arne from Dolch is quite a cool guy, so it will be a good experience to share a nightliner with them. I’m sure we’ll come back with great memories.
Final word
I truly appreciate you taking the time to respond to my questions. Do you have any final thoughts or messages for our audience and your supporters?
Thank you, and huge respect to everyone who has supported us through the years! When we started, we would never have imagined we’d still be here ten years later. I still believe the best is yet to come I hope Procession proves it.
