Conceived and brought to life by multi-talented singer Siân Greenway, Bobbie Dazzle is hell-bent on bringing the fun back to rock ‘n’ roll. A glitter-drenched explosion of 21st-century glam rock, Bobbie Dazzle’s debut release — the celebratory ten-song “Fandabidozi” — is a bold statement of joy, rebellion, and fierce individuality. Out now on Rise Above Records, the album is as audacious as it is infectious. In this exclusive interview, Siân Greenway opens up about the inspiration behind Bobbie Dazzle, the power of performance, and why it’s time to shine louder than ever.

Bobbie Dazzle

The conception of Bobbie Dazzle

Hi Sian, welcome to Femme Metal Webzine! How are you doing, and how’s life treating you these days

I’m busy but amazing. I’m preparing for a run of shows next month and recording two new tracks!

When and how was Bobbie Dazzle conceived? Could you tell us a bit about its origins?

In my head, Bobbie has always existed, musically, I brought her to life in 2023. I’d always needed to do this for myself, and in 2023, I lost a close relative and needed a way to navigate the grief, so what better than a complete juxtaposition to lift yourself out of the sadness and into the joy that is Glam Rock!

The debut album “Fandabidozi”

Your debut album, “Fandabidozi”, released through Rise Above Records, marks a big milestone. How did you approach the production process for this release? Were there any particular challenges or highlights?

I’m incredibly lucky that the entire process of making the record was a breeze, I think because I knew exactly what I wanted to do, and it was my vision alone. No compromises for other band members or being too afraid to try anything; it was a completely free process. Also, because my album is an homage to 1970s glam rock, I had the perfect guide to help me along the way. I mean, I’m not reinventing the wheel here, I’m not trying to fix something that isn’t broken.

So I took inspiration from different sounds across legendary albums, and then I kept a slightly more modern production to keep that shine and sparkle that is 2024 production, because clarity is important when it comes to music, and technology has come a long way in the past 50 years.

“(It) embodied all of what I was trying to describe inside the record.”

Back in October 2024, you released “Fandabidozi” through Rise Above Records. Besides being one of last year’s standout albums, its title sparks a unique sense of joy every time it’s mentioned. What’s the origin of the name?

I wanted a silly name for an album that doesn’t take itself too seriously, but at the same time is incredibly musical, and the word “Fandabidozi” embodied all of what I was trying to describe inside the record. It’s fantastic and it’s retro and it’s just supposed to be a good time for everyone to enjoy.

Bobbie Dazzle as a creative outlet

I understand that Bobbie Dazzle was born as a creative outlet during a challenging time. How confronting was it to process those tough experiences and channel them into your music?

It was just necessary; there wasn’t a forceful aspect to doing it, I just wanted to. It was my moment to smile and laugh when every other part of my life just didn’t have that in it because of what I was going through. I guess a distraction that turned into something I don’t ever see myself walking away from. So I’m thankful that I could turn my mental breakdown into a mental breakthrough

Being honest with yourself

In “Fandabidozi”, we can hear clear influences from iconic 70s glam rock acts like Bowie, T. Rex, Suzi Quatro, and The Sweet, as well as hints of Jethro Tull and Focus. How did these seemingly contrasting worlds come together in Bobbie Dazzle’s sound?

Meshing all of your influences into one and then also adding your natural sound creates something individual. I think what’s most important in that is when you’re creating something solely for yourself without care of how others will respond to it, that’s when it sounds honest and real. If you’re trying to sound just like one other band, it’s never going to go down well, and it’s not really who you are as an artist. Being inspired by everything you love and sitting down to write a riff in any style that you love is how to find your sound, as contradictory as that might seem.

The band behind Bobbie Dazzle

For both live performances and studio recordings, you collaborate with a group of highly talented musicians. How do the dynamics work within the group, and what are the advantages of working with such a versatile team?

Because my band has all played together since they were children (apart from me, technically I’m the new member in my project), they have such ease and understanding of each other, which makes my job hella easy. I knew one of them, and I showed him my songs, and he loved them. He brought the rest of them in, and I’ve been extremely lucky in that aspect because finding a reliable bunch of people to trust with your songs isn’t an easy task. What can I say, I’m just one lucky lady.

Future Plans

What’s next for Bobbie Dazzle? I saw you recently announced support dates with Alice Cooper and Lita Ford, as well as a full UK headline tour. Is there any news about a potential European tour?

I’ve been offered many dates in mainland Europe, and I’m just trying to find the right time to make everything work. I’m so incredibly busy in the UK right now, and I’m writing album number 2. But if I don’t make it to the rest of Europe next year, I promise 2026 will be the time for me to do a full tour
