Greek rock’n rock thunderstorm DISMISS have had a remarkable journey to the release of their debut album, FUNERAL FUND. From overcoming a forced name change and lineup shifts to finally bringing their long-awaited record to life, the band has emerged stronger than ever. With a UK tour on the horizon and plenty of new music already in the works, we caught up with bassist Monica and vocalist Jo to talk about the making of FUNERAL FUND, the story behind the band’s rebirth, and what lies ahead for DISMISS.
Welcome to DISMISS
Hi there, welcome to Femme Metal Webzine! How are you doing, and how’s life treating you these days?
Monica: Hi! Thanks for having us! We’re doing great. Things have been pretty crazy lately, but exciting at the same time. We recently dropped our new album, FUNERAL FUND which we celebrated with a release show in Athens last month. Since then, we’ve been bouncing between promoting the record, getting ready for our upcoming tour, and working on new stuff whenever we get the chance.
Dismiss in the UK
In support of the debut album FUNERAL FUND, you have announced a short UK tour that starts at the end of this month. As it is your first time abroad, what are you looking forward to most?
Monica: We’re counting down the days until we get back in UK soil! We got our first taste of the UK last summer, and it definitely left us wanting more. Coming back this year feels even more exciting. We can’t wait to reconnect with our friends and fans, meet new people, and bring FUNERAL FUND along for the ride.
The production of FUNERAL FUND
Returning to FUNERAL FUND, which was released in May, what can you share about the album’s overall production?
Jo: FUNERAL FUND may have been released in May but it was actually recorded a couple of years ago. It was an exciting period for us because, at the time, we had only released a few singles and were still figuring out exactly where we wanted to take our sound. Soon enough, we started bringing in our own songs, with each of us adding our personal ideas, influences, and character to the music. The studio sessions were sometimes long, messy, and chaotic. But they were also full of experimentation, unexpected moments, and the feeling that we were building something together.
The rite of passage of Dismiss
FUNERAL FUND feels like a rite of passage from Bad Habits to DISMISS. I know the band recently had to change its name due to copyright issues. How much has that situation influenced FUNERAL FUND?
Jo: As a band, we faced quite a few obstacles along the way, and changing our name was definitely one of the biggest challenges. It was frustrating because we already had an album ready to be released, but we couldn’t move forward due to this legal issue. It was a pretty stressful period. However, this change also happened during a time when some band members had been replaced, and we were naturally reshaping the identity and character of the band. In that sense, the rebranding felt like the right step forward. It might have delayed the release of FUNERAL FUND but in the end, I feel like everything fell right into place.
Behind the title album
The album title FUNERAL FUND is a heavy one for a debut. What lies behind it?
Jo: As mentioned earlier, the band went through both member changes, and a name change during this period. We felt this album needed to represent a transition from Bad Habits to DISMISS, which is exactly why we chose the title FUNERAL FUND. For the album artwork, we literally held a “funeral” for our old band name, Bad Habits, to represent closing that chapter and celebrating a rebirth. The beginning of a new era for the band.
The two singles of DISMISS taken from FUNERAL FUND
Two singles from FUNERAL FUND, On the Edge and Down in Flames, were released in October 2025 and April 2024, respectively. What can you share about these songs?
Jo: Down in Flames was the first single from the album to be released. It was still fresh, having been recorded not long before. And we all agreed that it was the right song to introduce what was coming next. On the Edge, on the other hand, came out at the end of 2025. By that point, we had already been playing with the new members for about a year, but we still weren’t completely sure about the album’s release timeline.
Musically, we had been quiet for quite some time, and that silence was starting to feel draining. On the Edge felt like a fun and energetic song for all of us. So we decided to bring some friends together in our favorite bar, drink some beers, and shoot a music video that matched the spirit of the track.
The future plans for DISMISS
Looking at the current schedule, which includes a short tour in the UK, what does the rest of the year look like for Dismiss?
Monica: We’re really grateful to Indigo Bravo Promotions and Steve for making this tour UK happen. It’s always great to have people supporting you and helping you take your music further. Once we get back, we’ll be back in writing mode, working on new songs. And trying to get out there as much as possible. Both in Greece and abroad, before heading back into the studio.
