KØDE: new EP + new single

Swiss indie/noise/slowcore/grunge/shoegaze collective KØDE streamed new EP ‘The Best We Can’ + official music video for the single “Care”.

Out now on Digital exclusive through Division Records!

After the release of their first and self-titled EP in 2017 on Cold Smoke Records, followed by the LP ‘Discrete Transformation’ in 2019 on Division Records, the members of KØDE made the most of the pandemic’s limbo by locking themselves into their favorite basement to produce their new EP, “The Best We Can” available right now on Digital exclusive through Bandcamp.

Built upon a solid basis and in constant progression since their discrete transformation, a new kind of energy reveals itself in the band’s heart and soul.

Still consisting of the same musicians, Saskia (Vocals/Guitars/Synths), Adam (Guitar/Synths), Alex (Bass), and Sylvain (Drums), the band blends tender violence and ambient daydream, without forgetting its origins that smell like old punk basements and cold ashes, giving it its best.

Official statement

“Modest in its number of tracks, this production is nonetheless solid and efficient. Once again thrown through Julien Fehlmann’s mixer, “The Best We can”, takes us on a shoegaze and slightly mathrock path, without forgetting to remind us with a quick and simple, almost punk aspect, that this EP knows how to stay casual without being too light.

The guitars manage to find themselves in their discord, supported by an intimidating bass and minimalistic drums that wrap it all up in a hypnotic harmony. The vocals come to sublime, captivate and give meaning to this ruthless buzz.

With an intimate and imposing touch, this new EP reconnects with the icy and fiery paradox found in the last album, this time more powerful and introspective, tenderly embracing us after having bared its teeth.”
