Over the past few years, a charity campaign featuring six prominent musicians for the benefit of artists affected by the coronavirus lockdown, has developed into a spectacular project that will undoubtedly cause a sensation.

DATOG and their debut album Babylon
We are talking about Dirkschneider And The Old Gang, DATOG for short. And without hesitation let’s move onto their full debut album, the impressive spectacle titled Babylon (due Oct 3rd 2025). And what a belter this album is. This I am sure will please fans of hard rock and heavy metal. Udo Dirkschneider with his distinctive vocal style is ably assisted by Manuela “Ella” Bibert on this album, with additional vocals from Peter Baltes.
Pure melodic hard rock and heavy metal
Needless to say the record is right up my alleyway with its 12 tracks of melodic style hard hitting rock and heavy metal. There are some killer anthems here including the brilliant most recent single “Babylon”, a great vocal collaboration between Dirkschneider and Manuela. Other awesome cuts are the metal banger “Hellbreaker”, the ballads “Strangers In Paradise” and “Blindfold”, together with the power metal of “Propaganda”.
“All twelve tracks here [on Babylon] are awesome”
The track “Metal Sons”, is a tribute to true, original heavy metal, while the closing cut “Beyond The End Of Time” is one near eight minute epic. But personal highlights aside, all twelve tracks here are awesome, and should please fans of heavy metal and hard rock alike.
