What else can be said about a band that has been active since 2003, with ten albums to their name (including 2021’s Viking Spirit) and an exceptional number of singles and EPs? They have a vast repertoire to draw from, and a solid reputation built with care and attention, year after year, album after album. Song of Darkness (the song) was already released in December last year, a song that certainly reassured their devoted followers by perfectly embodying the spirit and sound of Leaves’ Eyes.

Song of Darkness: “It may be rhetoric, but this is perfection”
At the risk of repeating ourselves, because it is our duty to point out the beauty, Song of Darkness is truly a great song. Indeed, where all five elements that make up the complex sound of Leaves’ Eyes contribute to the final goal. Angelic vocals, guitars that respond in tune to the exuberant rhythm section, keyboards that push upwards. It may be rhetoric, but this is perfection. Many try their hand at symphonic metal, but few reach these heights.
The closing songs of Song of Darkness
The subsequent Hall of the Brave and Until the Last Day is in keeping with the epic/Viking/cinematic vein that LE have always shown themselves to appreciate. The first complete with a choral finale to emphasize the narrative pathos, and Krull‘s powerful voice bursting in with all its resolute impact. And the finale is entrusted to the ballad Roots Eternal, where LE indulge in narcissism. But we can allow them that. And now we just have to wait for the new album!
