Formed in 2014 by vocalist Angela Di Vincenzo and guitarist/producer Andy Menario, Secret Rule has emerged as a powerhouse in the symphonic modern metal scene. In the new album X, they are joined by Andrea Miazzetto (drums) and Sofia Basili (bass), the band seamlessly blends crushing metal riffs, cinematic symphonic layers, and cutting-edge electronic elements, all elevated by Angela’s commanding and emotive vocals.

And I have to be honest and say Secret Rule is one of my fave bands and to my ears, the band’s latest album could well be a fave of mine in 2025. Opening with a belter, “The Answer” and if there are any critics out there, this track will be the answer. An awesome opener! And what follows treads a very similar path – a further 10 catchy tracks of awesome modern metal intensity, electronic experimentation together with a symphonic undercurrent, and Angela‘s vocals fit in with the music so damn perfectly.
Melodic metal + modern edge = highlights galore on X
We have highlights galore, but if I had to single out any cuts, the oh so catchy single “In The Silence” and the symphonic “Eternal Symphony” sure do hit the mark with me. But don’t get me wrong, every track is a banger. This release marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter for the band, so if you enjoy melodic, symphonic power metal with a modern edge, I highly recommend this album.
