Chart-topping German symphonic metal icons Xandria will release their new studio album, Eclipse on August 7th 2026, via Napalm Records. The new full-length features eleven tracks that represent the most diverse body of work in the band’s discography so far, combining classic ’80s metal riffs with low-tuned modern guitars, dark electronics, delicate folk textures and magical choral interludes.
An eclipse between epic and folk
The record kicks off in epic fashion with the brief instrumental Syzygy that leads us to the title track that is an upbeat majestic symphonic belter. The tempo continues through the catchy Colours, with the track The Shannon’s Home having a Celtic/Folky feel in the title and yep, this is a damn infectious Folk/Metal cut, simply love its epic feel too. Every remaining track on this album hits the spot with a tsunami of highlights including Wave of Tanis, the totally awesome ballad The Last Generation and the monumental 8+ minute closing cut Lore. The album features contributions from the Sofia Session Orchestra and Choir, alongside guest folk musicians like violinist Ally Storch (Subway To Sally) who can be heard on Lore and whistle player McAlbi.

And let’s not forget frontwoman Ambre Vourvahis, who delivers a versatile performance throughout, shifting smoothly from harsh aggressive tones to soaring operatic heights. Her versatility is particularly evident on the title track Eclipse. The song showcases her full vocal range, from gentle and emotional passages to powerful rock vocals, intense dark growls, and operatic elements – an impressive spectrum in just one metal track. I have always liked Xandria I must admit, but to my ears this is a must buy as I believe this release to be their best! Eclipse is going to be a difficult one to eclipse (sorry). Well recommended!!
