Review by Tony Cannella

From Italy, the band Motherstone plays extremely, groove-laden and aggressive music with Thrash Metal overtones. On their 2nd full-length release, “Terror Is Over” the band offers no moments of quiet, serenity or niceness. They just deliver 40-minutes worth of in your face metal with powerful riffs, duel male/female vocals and uncompromising (yet melodic) music. The vocal pair of Vale and JJ Mammasasso is quite a formidable duo to be reckoned with. Female vocalist Vale has a clean, soaring vocal style whilst male vocalist JJ offers a more hostile delivery. The vocals are split pretty evenly between the two contrasting styles. With song titles like “Face Your Fate”, “24/7 Sedation”, “Mental Wreckage”, “Mad Man Walking” and “Terror Is Over” don’t expect anything nice, but Motherstone offers some good bits of melody, which really pushed them over-the-top for me. “Terror Is Over” also has a raw, live feel to it and plenty of energy. So, if you are looking for something with a nice mixture of belligerence and melody, “Terror Is Over” by Motherstone is an album that never lets up in supplying the power and ferocity.

Rating – 85/100
